If you had read the PRIMARY SOURCE, you would know it compared wives
of smokers to "unexposed" wives of nonsmokers.

NO study of second hand smoke identified a comparison group of people
unexposed in social and occupational settings because no such people
existed in the 1960s. It doesn't matter because no study has found a
correlation between disease and social or occupational exposure.
Dozens have tried and failed. Justification for bar and restaurant
bans has been studies of housewives, not failed studies on bars and
restaurants.
